Acolyte are an Edinburgh-based poetic-psychedelic ensemble led by award-winning spoken word artist Iona Lee, whose immersive, genre-blurring sound fuses jazz, trip-hop and experimental performance. Following acclaimed singles ‘The Blue Dark’ and ‘Warm Days In December’, the band return with ‘Moon Disaster’ — a jazzy, existential meditation inspired by apocalyptic what-ifs, ancient prophecy and the vast loneliness of space. Together, these releases form The Blue Dark, Acolyte’s debut EP: a richly textured work that captures their hypnotic live energy while pushing into new sonic territory.

Developed through years of collaboration, The Blue Dark explores themes of awe, unease and ecological interconnectedness, tracing emotional responses to a world in flux. From the hazy instrumental opener ‘Digital Mirages’ to the uneasy grooves of ‘Warm Days In December’ and the cinematic drift of the title track, the EP moves between intimacy and abstraction, grounding poetic storytelling in layered loops and immersive sound design. A closing suite of remixes by Maniatrix, Ravelston and Eyes Of Others expands the EP’s world further, reframing its material through club-adjacent textures and deepening its sense of strange, shared exploration.
