Count Florida are Mel Whittle (vocals/guitar), Scott Argo (drums) and Andrew Milk (bass). They make short, catchy, dreamy queer indie-pop songs with a less-is-more attitude.

Written over a five-year period, Love Without Alarm charts, says Mel, “difficult times … house moves, relationship break-ups, health problems and procedures”. There is more than one song about death. Yet a great many more about life, and seizing it with both hands while we still can, in whatever form that may take. Throughout all their recent travails, the band have always maintained a strong mutual respect for one another, and treasured the feeling of consistency, stability and unity that making music together brings. Count Florida is to them “a safe, confidential space to just ‘be’,” as Mel puts it. That warmth shines through all ten tracks of Love Without Alarm, Mel’s bright vocals ringing clear as a bell over the joyful chaos of reverberant guitar, bass and drums.
