FEAT: THE LOST MAP PODCAST, ALEXIA AVINA, KINBOTE, PICTISH TRAIL, V I S I T ▲ T I O N S, GUINNESS + MORE
LISTEN TO THE ALL NEW LOST MAP PODCAST

- CLUB BISCUIT TASTER EPISODE STREAMING NOW

Look, we'll be the first to admit that our #content here at Lost Map can be of varying quality. The Waypoints newsletter for instance has an average unsubscribe rate of 4.2% and has recently received such scathing feedback as (these are all genuine FYI) "too long", "I'm becoming a Buddhist monk and can't listen to your music", and quite simply, "I am just not interested anymore". Meanwhile buried deep in the CMS there is and always will remain the controversial and short-lived CLUMPS section of Lost Map Records dot com – "random scrapings from the hearts and minds of the Lost Map artist roster and friends" featuring such highlights as Insect Heroes' Favourite Extinctions and Neil Pennycook's Guide to Penicuik.

Be all of that as it may, we feel extremely confident in saying that the taster episode of the brand new Lost Map Podcast, the Club Biscuit, contains some of our finest #content yet. We are really content with this #content, and we hope you will be too. For instance there's Bart's Hot Facts about things such as Gary Oldman, peanuts and Brexit. There's Romeo Taylor's advert for Martha "friend of the Guinness" Ffion's new album Nights to Forget in which he coins the already legendary catchphrase "simply add to cart" (watch a video version here). There's also lots of miscellaneous walking'n'talking by Johnny, and plenty of really good music™.

Perhaps the best thing about the brand new Lost Map Podcast, the Club Biscuit, is that you don't even need to "simply add to cart", because it's entirely free to listen to. Simply find it on your favourite podcast platform and get it in your ears straight away, at no cost (non-psychologically speaking, anyway). You'll find it to be of ample length, Buddhist-friendly and really very interesting. We're not bitter, we're just hurt.

4) The soft and affectionate cradling of a human body part e.g. balls
5) Quite simply a traditional china mug

And that's not even counting the wonderful new single 'Cups' by Alexia Avina, which is available to stream and share now on the internet dot com, as well as included as part of this month's PostMap Club postcard subscription service (more on that below). Alexia is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born and raised in Southeast Asia, previously based in Montreal and now living in rural Massachusetts. Her heavenly music is rooted in ambient, folk and dreampop traditions. We'll be releasing her extremely fine new album Unearth on limited-edition CDR on October 9, jointly with Topshelf Records in North America. Unearth is available to pre-order now, and is also preceded by the single ‘Fit Into’, the video for which you can watch here.

If you enjoy pictures of music artists standing around looking cool, thoughtful and faintly melancholy in a forest, such as Alexia does in the attendant video for the beautiful song 'Cups', then stick around because there's definitely more where that came from we can assure you.

SEPTEMBER POSTMAP CLUB FEAT.
THE BRAND NEW LOST MAP ARTIST KINBOTE

- JOIN OUR CLUB

The young man you can see standing around looking cool, thoughtful and faintly melancholy in a forest goes by the name of Matt Gibb and, unlike Alexia Avina, he's from East Lothian but look stick with us there's more to him than that we promise. Matt, who goes by the musical alias of Kinbote, is our latest signing to Lost Map, and he is a found-sound sampling wizard. For example his debut single 'Hiemalis', which is released as part of September's PostMap Club, features drums made from the satisfying crackle underfoot of branches and leaves, recorded while he walked through a forest. Incredible, right?! Whatever next? Drums sampled from the satisfying crackle of an entire Walkers Classic Variety Crisps™ 12-pack consumed ferociously in one sitting while watching the DVD The Best of Fort Boyard? Anything is possible because Matt can do it all.

'Hiemalis' is but a mere foretaste of Kinbote's crispy good music, much more of which is waiting to be discovered on his v excellent debut album Shifting Distance, which we'll be releasing on limited-edition CDR in December. We will be telling you much more about Matt and his new album in weeks to come – in the meantime you can watch him play a livestream show on September 19, as part of an Almost Ghosts label night. Here's info on the full set of postcards awaiting dispatch in September as part of a PostMap Club Classic Variety 3-pack™.

- Alexia Avina – 'Cups' (includes exclusive track ‘What About The Light’)
