- FIRST EP BY ARTHUR KING, FEAT. JASON LYTLE FROM GRANDADDY

As Matt Goss from Bros has mused philosophically of all this virus bother: "The good thing is, you can go anywhere in your mind," and we couldn't agree more. In the last few days of "lockdown" as they're calling it – we have no friends and almost never go out anyway so *shrugs* – we've been to all kinds of exotic and faraway places in our mind, e.g. each of our favourite branches of Subway™ sandwiches. But there's another, even more special mind trip you can go on should you so choose, and here's how. Come away with us... to Planet Eigg.

Get frothy in a bothy and experience the splendid isolation of the Hebrides through the second series of V I S I T ▲ T I O N S – a three-part set of special limited-edition releases, written and recorded in residency in rural seclusion on our island home. The three EPs by Arthur King, Rachel Aggs and Rozi Plain will be released respectively across the course of 2020 on both 12” vinyl (with download) and as a download only, exclusively as part of a subscription service, which can be signed-up to now from just £25. A new episode of the Lost Map Podcast, introducing the first release in the series, is available now too while another episode introducing Arthur King (more on them in a moment) will be available from this Sunday.

Arthur King is a revolving collective of musicians, visual artists and filmmakers based in Los Angeles, including Jason Lytle, frontman with alt-rock pioneers Grandaddy. They arrived on Eigg in the week leading up to our Howlin’ Fling festival in the summer of 2019, following a chance online conversation earlier in the year between Lytle and Lost Map boss man Johnny Lynch. "The Americans", as they became affectionately known, got good and mashed and made a load of weird trippy visuals and music, some of which is captured on their V I S I T ▲ T I O N S EP. Still can't believe we're releasing music by the guy from yer actual Grandaddy tbqh. Still can't believe how good a Meatball Marinara from the Subway™ at Scotch Corner services is tbqh.

BEAT THE COVID-19 BLUES WITH SAVAGE MANSION

PRE-ORDER THEIR NEW ALBUM WEIRD COUNTRY NOW

Tonight, Savage Mansion should have been in Bristol, rocking their boabies off for an expectant crowd as part of a massive UK tour. Instead, they'll be sitting in the house probably watching classic episodes of Columbo on 5USA, eating a Subway™ meal deal and, during commercial breaks, through a mouthful of Italian herbs'n'cheese, humming the COVID-19 blues (fits perfectly to the melody of 'Crocodile Shoes' by Jimmy Nail). DAMN YOU VIRUS! We hate you even more than we hate Tories (joke, we still mainly hate Tories). But if you think that the Sav Men have given up all hope then clearly you don't know the Sav Men like we know the Sav Men. Because we know a lot of men, and especially these men, the Sav Men, AKA Savage Mansion™, and let us tell you this for free: they haven't give up (hope).

And here's why:

1) Their UK tour opening for Pictish Trail has been shunted forward 12 months into the future, which puts it in the year (*counts on fingers*) 2021. We know, that's a long time to wait, sorry pals. But think of it as extra time to decide on your outfit. Who knows maybe we'll even find a date by then???! (joke, we will never find a date).

2) Savage Mansion's AMAZING second album Weird Country remains scheduled for release next week, on April 3, and you can pre-order it right now, with the absolute stone-cold guarantee from us to you that is is AMAZING.

3) Ahead of the album's release, keep a look out next week for the freaky and brilliant new video for the album's title track 'Weird Country'. Contains ghoulish latex faces, A Prostitute, Mount Florida. 10/10, can recommend.

4) The song 'Weird Country' is available to stream and share now, and also featured as part of this month's PostMap Club (more on that below). Fun fact: "weird country" refers not to the country of "England", nor the music of Jimmy Nail, but in fact the country of "Scotland". Which is quite a weird place when you think about it, e.g. Coatbridge.

MARCH POSTMAP CLUB:
MEET A.R. PINEWOOD

SIGN UP NOW

Getting involved with anonymous men in masks and assless chaps who we meet over the internet being something of a favourite past time here at Lost Map, we were all too enthusiastic to hook up with the mysterious A.R. Pinewood (who doesn't really wear assless chaps btw, we dreamed that part) for the release of his debut single 'Faux Misery' as part of our PostMap Club subscription service. And despite us knowing very little about him, truth be told. For instance we still have no idea what the initials "A.R" stand for. Names we can tell you that it definitely doesn't stand for – through a process of logical elimination – include "Anneka Rice", "Alan Rickman" and "Anal Rambo".

Further Coleen Rooney-esque investigations have led us to glean the following as to the possible identity of "Mr Pinewood", if that's even the nine-stone cowboy's real name (*strokes chin*):

- Ginger hair (David Caruso? A dog?)
- Extensive use of vocoder (Jason Derulo? Cher? Stephen Hawking?)
- Plays country music (Jimmy Nail?)
- Favourite jacket colour: beige (Columbo?)
- Enigmatic (Kim Jong-un? Enya?)
- Is a man (Peter Falk AKA Columbo?)

Verdict?
It's.................. Dane Bowers
