"I FEEL HER IN THE AIR WHERE WE WERE"

OFTEN IMITATED, NEVER DUPLICATED:
MEET KOPPIES

- SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP AVAILABLE NOW AS PART OF POSTMAP CLUB
- PRE-ORDER LIMITED-EDITION CD RELEASE
- STREAM AND SHARE 'HOSPITAL SONG'

It's hard to believe, we know, but beyond the foot of the bed, out the front door (trousers on), past kebab house 'Palace Aroma', through the big Tesco's car park, over the ring road, across the fields where they're building the new houses and much, much further still, there lie distant mystical lands known quite simply as... "abroad". We know this because a brand new band which Lost Map is excited to be working with, indie-folk five-piece Koppies, actually come from abroad, or as they call it "Johannesburg". Which they explain is to be found in another place called "South Africa" (confusing). Now, normally we would laugh something like this off as an elaborate hoax – like the Moon landings, romantic love or "Slough". But they have shown this "abroad" to us, on the internet. And if history has taught us anything, ladies and gentlemen, it's that everything on the internet is real.

Led by not just one nor two but three extremely talented songwriters – our very own Victoria Hume, whose wonderful solo material we have been releasing for a number of years now, plus acclaimed and multi-award-nominated South African songwriters Matthew van der Want and Chris Letcher – Koppies command an embarrassment of riches when it comes to treating your ears to just really enjoyable combinations of words/music. Their self-titled debut EP proves it in fine style and is available right now via Lost Map's PostMap Club subscription service (sign up here), ahead of a limited-edition CD release on July 2 (pre-order now). You can hear Koppies talking about all of this and more in a new episode of the Lost Map Podcast.

BETTER YET, PostMap Club subscribers will receive access from June 17 to an exclusive live session by Koppies, filmed in abroad "Johannesburg", and streamed direct to your device thanks to yer old pal the internet. Just order up a Palace Aroma, kick back, enjoy and wonder why you need ever leave the house again.

JUNE POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. KINBOTE + KISZES
JOIN OUR CLUB
Friends are important. We know because we had one once – it was at high school circa 1994 and he was called Scott Sneddon, and he was really into Jean Claude Van Damme movies. He used to watch them every lunchtime up the high flats, smoking bongs with his aunt Liz. He'd then come back to school and excitedly act out scenes from Hard Target (1993) or Kickboxer (1989) up the back of the classroom. One time he roundhouse kicked a bunsen burner and it set fire to some curtains. Most afternoons Scott would later fall asleep. He left school aged about 14 and we never saw him again. So sad.

We've managed fine without friends since then – who needs another friend after a friend like Scott? – but the point remains: friends are important. Just look at what Kinbote AKA Matt Gibb has achieved in collaboration with his friend Owen McAllister, AKA Kiszes. Available as part of June's PostMap Club and also streaming now, they have achieved the song 'GPA' – an ultra-dreamy summertime electro pop anthem for taking off your shirt to then making out with a hot guy or a hot girl or just your own hot hand (we heat ours up by sitting on it for a while).

Incredibly, friends Matt and Owen achieved all of this without even being in the same room! Was it magic or was it the internet? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Also included in the PostMap Club's haul o' spicy June tunes is the new EP by Koppies including exclusive access to their live session from June 17 (see above), and a brand new track 'Sun In Your Eyes' from a forthcoming new EP by Firestations (new live date from them below).
