We're impressed tbh because we're sh*te at not crying – we even cried once during the generally unfavourably reviewed Liam Neeson revenge action-thriller sequel Taken III (2014). But Alabaster AKA Gus isn't bragging, no. He's just not that kind of guy. And moreover, the mellow and affecting 'I'm Good At Not Crying' – and especially its poetic video in which our hero dresses in drag and sings to the setting sun surrounded by a choir of men with the voices of angels – is in fact a satirical skewering of rigid masculine archetypes and the fading British Empire. Which, now that we think about it, is really quite beautiful and please excuse us if we don't just have another lil' cry 'I'm Good At Not Crying' is the latest single taken from Gus's critically-acclaimed brand new double album GOLD ("a balm of spoken word and spiritual jazz" 8.4/10 – Pitchfork), which is out now via Chicago's International Anthem records in cooperation with yer old pals Lost Map.
