THE RESIDENCY

Artists are invited to spend one week in solitude, in Sweeney’s Bothy, a cosy eco-cabin located on the north-side of the island. Lost Map provides recording equipment and instruments, and artists can also bring whatever they want with them. No specific remit - just freedom to create the music they fancy making. We ask them to document their stay, either with a diary, sketchbook and/or photos, and we collect all this alongside the music they make.

The project started in July 2017, and the first series is now complete, with three different artists having taken part - MONOGANON, FREE LOVE and SLOW TREE. You can discover more about each act, below.

Lost Map has released the music created for the first series of V I S I T ▲ T I O N S across a series of EPs. You can support our project by purchasing the entire Series 01 set. We’re offering two different packages - a physical package of 3 x 12” vinyl EPs, and a digital package.

01|01 Monoganon

MONOGANON is the alias of John B. McKenna, a skilfully diverse multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, who hails from Carluke, Scotland, and is currently based in Malmö, Sweden.

01|02 Free Love

FREE LOVE, cosmic duo Suzi Rodden and Lewis Cook, are a couple whose pulsating psychedelic odysseys have been emanating from Glasgow since 2013.

01|03 Slow Tree

SLOW TREE's blissful soundscapes are the work of Neil Hamilton Wilkinson and Abi Fry - two residents of the neighbouring Isle of Skye, and members of indomitable pastoral-rock titans, British Sea Power.

PURCHASE V I S I T ▲ T I O N S SERIES 01

Physical subscribers will receive 3 EPs pressed on 12” vinyl, one from each of the artists who have taken part in Series 1 - Monoganon, Free Love and Slow Tree. The vinyl is housed in an extra-glossy sleeve, with a customised design by David Galletly, and an insert with artwork and photos taken by the artist during their stay. Each record comes with a CD copy (some with bonus tracks), as well as a printed postcard with download code for all the audio and photos taken during the project.

THE PODCAST: Series 01

Centred around the VISITATIONS project, we have started an official Lost Map Podcast - containing interviews with each of the artists who have taken part, discussing their experience, their creative process and also their background as a musician, as well as some clips of the music they have created.
