WAYPOINTS #207 20/07/23 "DOWN THE OVERGROWN PATH OF TEMPTATION" FEATURING: LOST MAP PRESENTS WEIRD WAVE, FIRESTATIONS, PICTISH TRAIL, MARTHA FFION, HOWLIN' FLING, MARANTA + MORE LOST MAP PRESENTS WEIRD WAVE: DEBUT ALBUM + FESTIVAL DATES STREAM AND SHARE 'ASTRAL DIFFICULTIES / WEIRD WAVE' PRE-ORDER THE DEBUT ALBUM To mark 10 years of Lost Map Records we tasked ourselves with building the Ultimate Lost Map Party Band™. Jimmy Tarbuck (vox), Jean-Claude Van Damme (sax), Harold Bishop (drums), Madge Bishop (bass, vox), Pat Sharp (keys), Sting (lute) and Keith Chegwin (vibes) sadly weren't available, so instead we dreamed up the next best thing: Lost Map presents Weird Wave.   A psychedelic-eclectic collective led by Lost Map head honcho Johnny Lynch AKA Pictish Trail, featuring a multitude of players to have released on the label over the last decade including members of eagleowl, Savage Mansion, Kid Canaveral, Tuff Love, L.T. Leif, Tuff Love and more, Lost Map presents Weird Wave will release their debut album of the same name – written and recorded on the label’s spiritual home the Isle of Eigg, Scotland – on October 6, 2023 on limited edition transparent splatter vinyl, with artwork designed by Oliver Pitt (Golden Teacher, Akashic Records). It’s preceded by the release of the track ‘Astral Difficulties / Weird Wave’, a nine-and-a-half-minute kosmische opus framing the fun, frenetic and freewheeling essence of the project. Watch a trippy video/visualiser by the artist Max Farrell (AKA Fako Andro) filmed while he was on residency on Eigg here. Lost Map presents Weird Wave will play live at festivals this summer including Lost Map’s Howlin’ Fling, Sea Power’s Krankenhaus, Green Man in Wales (where Lost Map began in the summer of 2013) and as part of the Edinburgh Fringe, at Summerhall. Scroll down for a full list of chances to get weird with us in coming months. ------------------- LOST MAP 10: THE PARTY CONTINUES Lost Map Records, as you may have heard us mention, turns 10 in 2023 and we be celebrating. If you made it along to one/all of our sweaty Lost In London shows last weekend at The Shacklewell Arms et al, then THANKS so much it was great fun, please now treat yourself to a nice relaxing shower. The celebrations continue, with the two biggest Lost Map 10 parties of the summer, full (ish) line-up details of which can now be revealed. Both are sold-out, but we'll be announcing some more special Lost Map 10 shows soon, which will have priority access for PostMap Club members, so stay tuned. Lost Map's Howlin' Fling returns to the isle of Eigg on the weekend of August 4-5, featuring live music and DJ sets from artists including Free Love, SDF, Martha Ffion, Lost Map presents Weird Wave, Alabaster dePlume, Amy May Ellis, Maranta, Fell, L.T. Leif, Savage Mansion and more, including a few top-secret special guests TBA.
