It was exactly a decade ago, at our debut showcase event at the Green Man festival in the wilds of Wales, that our little label stepped uncertainly out of the primordial ooze, drew a first breath deep into its lungs, cracked open a warm can of lager and proclaimed: "the Vengabus is coming / everybody's jumping". 10 years on and we're celebrating with gifts not for us, but for you, our dear and loyal supporters and followers. At the start of August it was our 10th birthday Howlin' Fling! festival on the isle of Eigg. To those of you who were able to make it for a wild weekend of incredible music, cans, ceilidh dancing, sheep sh*t, cans, sun (sun!), cans and truly unbeatable good vibes, a special message now follows: please check your balls/fannies for ticks. The party continues, as Lost Map presents Weird Wave – the Lost Map supergroup led by Pictish Trail, formed to mark a decade of the label – perform tonight, Wednesday, August 16 at Summerhall in Edinburgh. On what is, need we remind you, Lost Map's actual literal 10th birthday. There's support from L.T. Leif plus Pictish Trail (solo). Yup, that's Pictish Trail, in effect supporting himself, which is about the most Pictish Trail thing that ever happened. Lost Map presents Weird Wave will afterwards continue to crash over audiences everywhere – sewage free – as they head down to Wales for the Green Man festival, followed by Sea Power's Krankenhaus festival in Cumbria, ahead of a short UK venues tour in November. AUGUST POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. ALEXIA AVINA

A powerful emotional exorcism formed of sweeping synth drones, circling sequencer arpeggios, screeching guitar dissonance and outbreaks of heavenly vocals, In The Pantheon Of Decay is the fearless and intoxicating new album by New York City based American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alexia Avina. Due for release in November on limited-edition 12” vinyl and digital platforms (pre-order links to follow soon), it’s Alexia’s “ambient rage” record, as she calls it. Seven mostly instrumental tracks expressing anger, trauma and a search for peace which words could never alone suffice to convey. Her most focused and formidable work to date.

The album is preceded by the single ‘NPD / Father’s Day’ – released as part of Lost Map’s PostMap Club subscription service this month. One of just two tracks on the album to feature lyrics, it closes In The Pantheon of Decay in majestic fashion, as Alexia retreats to her comfort zone of voice and guitar to share a searingly literal account of leaving it all behind. The pain becomes beautiful.
