DOMINIE HOOPER'S INCREDIBLE DEBUT ALBUM
IN THIS BODY LIVES
|
|
A song about the darkness that lurks beneath the beauty of the countryside set to electric guitars that crunch and soar, ‘Hurricane’ is the latest single by Dartmoor-raised, London-based DIY singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dominie Hooper. It’s taken from her forthcoming debut album In This Body Lives, a breathtaking record steeped in memory, the search for self and the timeless power of voices raised in ritualistic union. Produced and mixed by Ben Hillier (best known for his work with Depeche Mode, Blur and Nadine Shah among others), it’s set for release on 12” vinyl and via digital services on October 31, 2025 (date of the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of summer and harvest). It promises to establish Dominie as a powerful and compelling new voice. She will build up to the arrival of In This Body Lives with tour dates throughout the summer and autumn, and appearances at festivals including Glastonbury, Shambala and Smugglers (see below for a full list).
We'll be sharing more new music by Dominie and announcing a raft of new tour dates in coming weeks. In the meantime, about ‘Hurricane’, she writes:
“City people don’t see the underbelly of life in the countryside. Amongst the rolling hills there’s also deprivation, massive drug problems and teenagers dying in car crashes. My big brother and I went through everything together. This song is about our time as teenagers on Dartmoor, the bond we had, and the juxtaposition of chaos against the beauty of the wild landscape.”

SAVING THE PLANET, WITH FELL
|
|
We've all heard of "bottomless brunch" and even "assless chaps" but what about "vinyl-less vinyl"? The latest craze in things which are missing a thing which you would normally expect to be part of the thing sees the vinyl taken right out of vinyl, in the interests of – and this is the important bit – saving the planet. Your favourite London-based psychedelic jangle-pop band and ours Fell are helping to spearhead this initiative, in partnership with academic art and research collective Doughnut Music Lab, with the release of a brand-new compilation album titled Futility Rights on July 4, 2025. It'll be packaged exactly like a standard 12" vinyl record with lots of lovely art and hand-made inserts, but it''ll contain precisely no / none / 0% vinyl. How the f*ck does that work, we hear you ask, and not unreasonably. Here follows a short explainer.
The majority of vinyl records are manufactured from poly-vinyl chloride (PVC) – one of the most environmentally damaging plastics. So, what if a vinyl record contained no record at all? That's the question Doughnut Music are asking. “Vinyl-less vinyl” is rooted in the assumption that many music fans are more interested in vinyl as a way to display their fandom than for its superior audio qualities, a theory supported by survey work. Doughnut Music's collaboration with Lost Map in the release of Fell’s Futility Rites represents their latest attempt to road-test the idea.
Gathering together a scattered assortment of Fell songs written over a 10-year period between 2015 and 2025, but yet to find a proper home until now, Futility Rites is a kaleidoscopic and unpredictable ride through a decade of daydreaming through song. There are tracks about everything from Kevin Ayers to the resurgence of European fascism, the ill-defined border between Leyton and Leytonstone, and the post-human future of lichen. Give it a lil' taste now by listening to ‘M.O.S.S.’, a dreamy, slow-bubbling meditation on modern life where lo-fi synths and drum machines blur the line between natural and artificial worlds.
While you're listening, why not help Donought Music continue their important work by completing a short survey about your music listening/buying habits? It might just help save the planet.

JUNE POSTMAP CLUB
FEAT. BLIND YEO + OWEN & THE EYEBALLS
|
|
In an alternative universe in which Cornish psychedelic folk ensemble Blind Yeo were not one of the best and most exciting new live bands in Britain, and they instead stank out any room they ever played in, the song 'Where Have All The People Gone?' could be about something else entirely. But provided you avoid hitting Carl Sagan's star bong, there remains only this universe for the forseeable future. A universe in which Blind Yeo will be absolutely ripping up the festival circuit this summer, with appearances at the likes of Cornish Bank Summer Camp, Fringe by the Sea, Shambala, Smugglers and more (see below for full list). Their latest single, released as part of Lost Map's PostMap Club in the month of June and available to stream and share now, is a hypnotic, motorik-pop banger which is a "mantra that guided me through feelings of confusion and isolation," says Blind Yeo frontman Will, "and on towards a more profound sense of connection with the land, and the world around me."
Brand new to Lost Map, and also featuring in June's PostMap Club, is the double A-side single ‘Moonhead’ / ‘Baby’ from Owen & The Eyeballs – a four-piece ensemble of musician / illustrator / artist pals whose blend of indie-pop, garage-rock and psychedelic oddness is instantly addictive. Their live shows are wild'n'colourful affairs, involving oversized costumes and all sorts of theatrical daftness. 'Moonhead' will be on streaming from Tuesday next week, June 24, and we'll be releasing more new music by the band later in the year. Keep your eyeballs peeled.
Also included in June's PostMap Club:
Fell – 'M.O.S.S.'
Ever looked at some lichen clinging to fake climbing rocks opposite a leisure centre near your house and begun pondering a post-human future? Nic from Fell has, and it inspired an absolutely synthy b*stard of a pop song.
