Like a massive strong wind measuring force 12 on the Beaufort scale – if only there was a special name for such a thing?! – 'Hurricane' by 'Dominie Hooper' absolutely blew us away first time we heard it. And it blows us (away) still, as we now with great excitement share the dramatic video for the track, directed by Narna Hue.
Also available to stream, ‘Hurricane’ is a song about the darkness that lurks beneath the beauty of the countryside, set to electric guitars that crunch and soar. It's taken from Dartmoor-raised, London-based DIY singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dominie's forthcoming debut album In This Body Lives – a breathtaking record steeped in memory, the search for self and the timeless power of voices raised in ritualistic union. It's produced and mixed by Ben Hillier (best known for his work with Depeche Mode, Blur and Nadine Shah among other Actual Famous People). It’s set for release on 12” vinyl and via digital services on October 31, 2025 – date of the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of summer and harvest.
Dominie will be touring loads both pre and post release of In This Body Lives, with dates including an album launch show at Moth Club in London on Thursday, November 27 – tickets on sale here. Scroll all the way to the bottom for more shows and info.

INTRODUCING: ISHAAQ AARKISTRA
|
|
|
A dizzying, psychedelic kaleidoscope of swirling analogue synth and bansuri flute solos over a thundering breakbeat and a snaking raga-based riff, ‘Grunderna’ is the Lost Map Records debut single by Ishaaq Aarkistra – a Stockholm based ensemble wildly fusing musical styles from east and west, led by Swedish Indian musician Ishaaq. Released as part of PostMap Club in the month of July (backed with the dreamily drifting ‘Arikomban Space’) it was recorded at yer actual ABBA’s RMV Studio in Stockholm and produced by the legendary Jari Haapalainen (The Concretes, Camera Obscura). Mamma mia!
Ishaaq, AKA Isak Klasson, was raised in Sweden, but he is half-Indian, and holds dual Indian Swedish citizenship. His journey in music began back in the early 2000s, as singer, guitarist and songwriter with the indie-pop band Speedmarket Avenue. As a solo artist under the name Ishaaq, he has moved towards a more spiritual, raga-based style, influenced by his Indian heritage. Featuring a cast of some of his favourite musicians, his latest collection of songs under the banner of Ishaaq Aarkistra (a Swedish twist on the Urdu word for “orchestra”) are his most ambitious and expansive to date – deeply layered, textured and immersive compositions, full of pulsing grooves, psychedelic soundscapes and positive energy. Watch this space for more later in the year.
About ‘Grunderna’, Ishaaq says:
“Grunderna is Swedish for ‘the basics’. The basics are really everything. We humans need to find our way back to the essentials of what it means to be a living being on planet Earth: water, the air. Nurture the basics. Enjoy the basics!”
