NEW PICTISH VIDEO FOR 'HOLD IT' AVAILABLE TO WATCH AND SHARE NOW
|
|
"Hold it," Pictish Trail entreats us repeatedly in his really very extra lovely new song of the same name. But just what does he want us to hold, exactly? His beer? His "Titan Turkey" foot-long deli heroes Subway™ sandwich w/ double provolone? Perhaps even his p*nis™? In search of answers, we looked to the trippy new video for 'Hold It' it by the acclaimed director James Hankins (Self Esteem, Adam Buxton, Richard Dawson). It made us feel a bit like we were trying to make a video call in the very unreliable early days of Skype, on strong drugs. It left us none the wiser.
The only sensible solution now is to ask J. Dog in person at one of his many upcoming concert tour dates around the country. The next one being at the Rockfield Centre 🤘 in Oban on Friday, October 24, with lots more to follow everywhere from Knoydart to Montrose, Huddersfield and even Birkenhead (scroll down for a full list). If we were to draw your attention to one show in particular then it would be the so-titled A Secret Evening Down In London With Pictish Trail on Wednesday, November 26, not-so-secret tickets for which are on sale now via Howlin' Fling dot com. Please be aware that whatever Pictish may or may not wish for you to hold during the song 'Hold It', its lyrics do not constitute any form of consent and p*nis graspers will be ejected.

ISHAAQ AARKISTRA SHARES NEW TRACK 'DE FOREST', ANNOUNCES ECO-FRIENDLY DEBUT ALBUM ARIKOMBAN SPACE
|
|
Lost Map's quest to save the planet through unconventional music formats continues. First there was Fell's "vinyless-vinyl" release of their new compilation Futility Rites. Next comes Stockholm-based ensemble Ishaaq Aarkistra’s incredible forthcoming debut album Arikomban Space on January 16, 2026, on ultra limited-edition eco-friendly bio-vinyl, made from reused cooking oil. Does that mean it smells/tastes like chips? We'll tell you when the test pressing arrives.
Packaged in beautiful, handmade screen-printed recycled sleeves (made of old second-hand record sleeves turned inside out) and available to pre-order now, Arikomban Space was recorded at yer actual ABBA’s* RMV Studio in Stockholm and produced by Jari Haapalainen (The Concretes, Camera Obscura). Beneath a mystical psychedelic shimmer, it explores thrilling common ground between Indian raga and Western jazz – distant musical cousins united by a passion for wild and free improvisation. A joyous and inspirational celebration of collaboration, community, multiculturalism and the fragile fundamentals of life on Earth, it’s a record like no other.
Have a taste (may taste like chips) now by listening to new single ‘De Forest’ – an otherworldly lament for environmental destruction set to a twisting guitar riff and the haunting sound of the snake-charming Pungi flute. “I Iove that it became so deep sonically, like noises from another, darker realm," says Ishaaq Aarkistra's Swedish-Indian bandleader Ishaaq. "To me these noises say that we don’t know what will come, what awaits us. The light vocals in increasing volume are singing ‘lite till’ which means ‘just a little bit more’. For me it is a picture of greed, or addiction to owning more things."
*Ishaaq confirms that he has met not just one but two members of ABBA (Björn and Benny). He says they are both very nice men.

SEPTEMBER POSTMAP CLUB FEAT.
DOMINIE HOOPER
|
|
A rootsy plugged-in alt-folk song with a sleepy off-the-cuff vocal that rises to a cathartic wail, ‘Weaver’ is the latest single by Dartmoor-raised, London-based DIY singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dominie Hooper. Available as part of Lost Map's PostMap Club subscription service in the month of September, it's taken from her forthcoming debut album In This Body Lives, a breathtaking record steeped in memory, the search for self and the timeless power of voices raised in ritualistic union. Produced and mixed by Ben Hillier (best known for his work with Depeche Mode, Blur and Nadine Shah among others), it’s set for release on 12” vinyl and via digital services on October 31, 2025 (date of the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of summer and harvest). Dominie will build up to the arrival of In This Body Lives with tour dates including an album launch show at The Moth Club in London on Thursday, November 27 (tickets on sale here).
About new single ‘Weaver’, Dominie writes:
“A song about cracking open and blossoming through a queer relationship. It was simply a beautiful, tender time of acceptance and expansion that I’ll always be thankful for. The instrumental/waily end of ‘Weaver’ is, for me, an expression of the feeling of breaking free from the blueprint, and blooming as our full selves in ways that can’t be explained with words. P.S. Trans lives matter!”
Also included in August's PostMap Club:
Owen & the Eyeballs – 'What Did You Do Today?' b/w 'American Werewolf'
O&TE bottle the wild energy of a sweaty live show in two new tracks — the feral howl of 'American Werewolf' and the jittery daftness of 'What Did You Do Today?'
Ishaaq Aarkistra – 'De Forest' b/w 'Aarzi Jagah'
From the hypnotic Poongi-driven pulse of ‘De Forest’ to the cosmic calm of ‘Aarzi Jagah’, the Swedish-Indian collective map out two very different corners of their universe.
