PICTISH TRAIL'S GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™ SETTING 170 LITRE SLIME BATH
SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN ⬇ FOR FULL LIST OF LIVE DATES
Be it that time we alleged that Jimmy Nail had kicked Sting to death in a row over trousers or when we fancifully claimed that Jesus™ had guest written the entire Christmas newsletter, admittedly we completely make up a lot of stupid and sacrilegious and potentially even libellous things in WayPoints. But the following statement, however unbelievable, is true: Pictish Trail has set a Guinness World Record™ , for "most amount of slime poured over an individual during a music video performance". Final, official verification remains pending, but once it's all rubber-stamped, PT's name shall forevermore be written into the Big Stout sponsored book of all things record-y. Or at least until another slime-y challenger should arise.
How and perhaps more importantly why? The answer is quite simply Pictish AKA Johnny's latest single and attendant forthcoming album: 'Life Slime' (order now). At time of planning a video for this song, delicious Guinness serendipitously got in touch to ask if Johnny fancied having a crack at a new World Record of his choosing (see also: Pitbull's bald cap challenge). The record just had to be slime-based. An overture to gatekeeper of gunge-based 90s kids TV Dave Benson Phillips was briefly mooted. But upon discovering that DBP is these days among other things driving a big red removal truck, DJing, playing gigs in pubs, and even hiring out bouncy castles for kid's parties (seriously, have a look at his website – "There's no business like tow business!"), we decided to go in a different direction, because Dave seems busy.
Enter renowned Glasgow production company Forest of Black (Belle & Sebastian, Biffy Clyro, Franz Ferdinand) with a visually sumptuous piece of pastel-y pink gloopy eye candy, in which our hero is doused and ultimately completely immersed in 170 litres of beautiful thick sensual slime. Directed by Oscar Sansom and produced by Beth Allan, it makes us think of retro blancmange desserts and niche sexual corners of the internet we prefer we hadn't found. Above all, it leaves us pondering: "how did he get the slime out of his a*s crack?"

SEAMUS FOGARTY'S CILLIAN MURPHY APPROVED NEW ALBUM SHIPS OUT NOW; PLAYING LIVE EVERYWHERE INCLUDING E.G. "MIDDELFART", DENMARK (REAL PLACE)
Modest fella that he is, Seamus Fogarty gets a wee bit embarassed when we shout about all his gr8 celebrity m8s, so let us just whisper this quietly when we say 🚨🚨🚨 OSCAR WINNING ACTOR CILLIAN MURPHY PLAYED ONE OF SEAMO'S SONGS ON THE RADIO, AGAIN 🚨🚨🚨 The mild-mannered Irishman (Cillian, not Seamus) gave the track 'Fire' a spin on the latest installment of his Limited Edition show for BBC 6 Music, and generously hailed Seamo as "one of my favourite artists around at the moment." Why Seamo isn't walking around permanently wearing a T-shirt reading "ONE OF ACTOR CILLIAN MURPHY'S FAVOURITE ARTISTS AROUND, AT THE MOMENT!" we can't understand. Perhaps Seamo's modesty is part of why Cillian likes him so much.
If the word of actor Cillian Murphy means anything to you – and we don't know why it wouldn't because actors are important – then you will be promptly doing at least one and ideally both of two things right now. 1) Ordering a 12" vinyl or CD copy of Seamo's incredible new album Ships right up before it sells right out (contains the Cillian Murphy-approved tracks 'Fire' and 'They Recognised Him' – the latter of which Cillian has also played on 6 Music before). 2) Booking tickets for one of Seamo's many forthcoming live concert dates, which are taking place all across the UK and Europe in days, weeks and months ahead (scroll down ⬇ for the full list). Last night, for example, Seamo played in Middelfart in Denmark, which we can assure you is a real place. Just south of Topfart, a little way up the road from Bottomfart. If nowhere near Shitterton.
If you're reading this Cillian: sorry ☹️

GUARDIAN ACCLAIMED EDINBURGH POETIC-PSYCHEDELIC ENSEMBLE ACOLYTE SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘MOON DISASTER’; ANNOUNCE DEBUT EP THE BLUE DARK
Its title makes us imagine a bare-arsed salute gone somehow horribly wrong, but we can assure you that Acolyte's new single 'Moon Disaster' is inspired by much more esoteric and indeed grown up things. "I’d been reading an anthology of historical correspondence which included a memo sent to Richard Nixon by one of his speechwriters titled ‘In the Event of Moon Disaster’," says Iona Lee, an award-winning poet, artist, music-maker, storyteller and spoken-word performer who leads Acolyte alongside Ruairidh Morrison on looped bass, Gloria Black (formerly of Lost Map artists Maranta) on synth and vocals, and Daniel Hill on percussion. "It was the speech Nixon was prepared to give if the Apollo mission had gone catastrophically wrong. Thankfully, Neil Armstrong and the lads all made it home, and the speech was never delivered.
“Meanwhile, I was researching the Sibyls of the ancient world and had fallen into a wormhole of thinking about consciousness, communication, and the poetic device of apostrophe (that moment when a poet turns to address the moon, a tree, or some other silent witness: ‘O moon’, etc). I’d written on the subject, borrowing three lines from Gerard Manley Hopkins ‘Spelt From Sibyl’s Leaves’, and those fragments eventually became the verses. Somewhere along the way, it all coalesced into a jazzy, existential meditation on the brevity of life, the loneliness of our planet, and the general imminence of oblivion."
So it's got absolutely nothing to do with bare arse, then. The same can be said of Acolyte's exciting forthcoming debut EP The Blue Dark – a “ meditation on awe and unease... a celebration of the strange”, says Iona, which has just been announced for release on limited-edition 12” vinyl and digital services on May 22, 2026. Among it's nine tracks – a mixture of Acolyte's singles to date and accompanying banging remixes by allies from the Edinburgh club scene – is the track 'Warm Days in December', which was singled out for acclaim by The Guardian in an Add to Playlist feature towards end of last year as "eerie, earthy psychedelia... glamorously unhurried".
Catch Acolyte live at dates listed down there ⬇ , including a Lost Map Record Store Day special in collaboration with Good Vibes.

MARCH POSTMAP CLUB
FEAT. ISA GORDON, SULKA, CURTIS MILES
If there is one takeaway among many to be enjoyed from Isa Gordon's incredible forthcoming new album 8Men, it's that lyrics to auld Scottish folk songs go HARD. "The curse o hell shall ye bear / for sic coonsels ye gae tae me" sings Isa on her new single 'Young Edward' – a reworking of an ancient murder ballad of uncertain origin, in which a son admits to killing his dad before escaping to the sea, but not before saying some really unpleasant things about his mum. Glasgow-based Isa respectfully handled this sinister, timeless tune the only way she saw fit: with a honking dirty grime beat. "A mad story about a fella killing his father then buggering off to America I thought suited this harsh backing," she reasoned. 'Young Edward' is out now as part of March's PostMap Club subscription service, and taken from the incredible album 8Men – a mixture of experimentally reimagined folk traditionals and contemporary tunes, released this Friday, March 20 on limited-edition cassette. It has already variously been hailed as "thrillingly odd" 8/10 (Mojo), "hypnotic" ★★★★ (The Skinny), a "pagan techno triumph" ★★★★ (The List) and "powerfully futuristic" (Clash).
It's been a while since we heard anything new from young Lukas Clasen, AKA Glasgow-based lo-fi maestro Sulka. Perhaps he too murdered one of his parents and ran off to sea? He's a nice lad so more likely he's just been dead busy. Either way, Lukas is finally back this PostMap Club month with new single called 'All Bets Off' – a breezy, self-recorded gem, showcasing his meticulous home-spun production, intimate close-mic'ed vocals and beautifully understated textures. Together with last year’s eerie indie-rock first glimpse 'Halloween', it's taken from Sulka's forthcoming brand new album Bute, which we look forward to being able to tell you much more about in next month's newsletter. Keep a look out for 'All Bets Off' coming to streaming next week.
Also included in March's PostMap Club:
Acolyte – 'Moon Disaster' + Maniatrix remix
Edinburgh’s shape-shifting collective return with an exploratory new piece that moves from hushed spoken-word intimacy into expansive, prog-leaning grooves, accompanied by a celestial remix that draws out its pulse and carries it somewhere more club-bound.
