LOST MAP x GOOD VIBES RECORD STORE DAY 2026 ALL-DAY EXTRAVAGANZA TOMORROW
BUY TICKETS FOR THE LATE EVENT
Yer old pals Lost Map are once again partnering up with Leith's Good Vibes Neighbourhood Store for a packed programme of live music and DJs as part of Record Store Day 2026. Tomorrow, Saturday, April 18, an all-day running buffet of delicious tunes both at the shop and at two nearby venues will bring together local artists, selectors and fans for a celebration music in the physical form and the cherished places that sell it to us.

Good Vibes (151 Constitution St, EH6 7AD) is an independent record shop specialising in new releases, underground music, indie labels and a carefully curated selection of esoteric sounds spanning the genres. 2026 marks the shop’s second year taking part in the official Record Store Day – and it remains the only participating record shop in Leith. Although based on the Isle of Eigg, Lost Map as you may know runs its mainland operations from the back room of Good Vibes, and has become an active part of the community around the shop in Leith. The label is proud to once again collaborate on the day’s programme, helping to curate a special FREE afternoon of live music just next door at The False Widow bar, with a mixture of acts from their artist roster and some special guests.

From 12pm–5pm, Good Vibes' afternoon showcase celebrating the breadth and spirit of Scotland’s independent music scene, co-curated by Lost Map and Play Nice presents, will feature Acolyte, Tony Morris, Isa Gordon, Gordon McIntyre and Buffet Lunch plus DJs. Later on, the action moves to Leith Cricket Club, for an after-party presented by Supper Club, featuring a vinyl-only DJ lineup including Louise Mason (BBC 6 Music / EHFM) and Plant City (EHFM), alongside Supper Club residents, plus a live performance from Glasgow electronic duo Comfort. Tickets for the evening event on sale now.

A reminder that you can pre-order any currently available record or merch item from the Lost Map web shop for free in-person collection from Good Vibes 😎

PICTISH TRAIL'S EXTRA FINE NEW ALBUM LIFE SLIME IS FINALLY, PROPERLY, OFFICIALLY OUT NOW; UK TOUR STARTS NEXT WEEK – NEW LIVE SESSION SHARED
ORDER LIFE SLIME ON VINYL & CD
WATCH A LIVE SESSION PERFORMANCE OF 'BATTERY PACK'
⬇ FOR A FULL LIST OF LIVE DATES SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN ⬇
It's the album release they said would never happen, even if it did in effect already happen, a long time ago. Since autumn last year we have been shouting to you all about the merits of Pictish Trail's most excellent new one Life Slime, which – as part of an experimental staggered release campaign – was made available to buy basically straight away on fan-first super-limited edition extra special vinyl. But the officially official undeniable proper final absolute release date to the max (digital) was April 10, which is to say, Friday just past. Thus, Life Slime now fully flows. Bathe in it, shower in it, rub it into your ears and your body. Live a life of pure slime.

A Toxic Lagoon Blue edition is available exclusively in indie shops, and comes with a sticker, an album map and a Pictish Trail Q&A and track-by-track guide to the album. The original fan-first Primoridal Blue-in-Pink Goo edition is still available from the Lost Map webshop and Bandcamp. A brand-new full-band Live Slime session performance of the song 'Battery Pack' is available to watch and share now – with the full three-song session, recorded in Glasgow at Forest of Black's studio, available now exclusively to PostMap Club subscribers in the PostMap Portal 😵‍💫.

All that remains is for Johnny to take Life Slime on the road, to a town near you. Assuming you live in one of the various towns listed on the list down there below, including but not limited to Irvine, Ramsgate and Wendover. If you don't live in one of these towns then sorry, and you should probably consider moving town. Until we add more towns, anyway. If you aren't already away booking tickets, then let us ensure that you do so promptly, by dazzling your minds and eyes with some words of the music media, who are all in agreement that Life Slime is a goddamn HIT.

“Beautiful psych pop” ★★★★ – Mojo
“More heart-surging oddness” ★★★★ – Record Collector
“Spry, agreeably wonky electropop” 7/10 – Uncut
“Oozes talent” ★★★★★ – The Skinny
“A favourite artist of ours... this is beautiful” – Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music
“Certifiably musically mad, and we love him for it”
– Roddy Hart, BBC Radio Scotland
“Absolutely at the top of his game” – Joyzine

TWO NEW LOST MAP ALBUM ANNOUCEMENTS: SULKA'S BUTE AND OWEN & THE EYEBALLS' OWEN & THE EYEBALLS TOO

WATCH A STUNNING NEW ANIMATED VIDEO FOR 'MOONHEAD'
So many exciting new albums have we got to bring you at the moment that we're going to tell you about a pair of them now as a news 2-4-1. Sorry, it doesn't mean you get one for free, it just means we're tight on space. The first is an absolute beaut by Sulka, confusingly titled Bute. Sulka is of course the alter-ego of Glasgow-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and maestro of slanted DIY melodic rock Lukas Clasen. The follow-up to his 2023 album Distractions was recorded on the Scottish west coast island of Bute and is a tenderly melodic, back-to-basics collection of twilight songs about love, community, growing pains and opening your arms to the world, that will resonate with fans of all from Sparklehorse to MJ Lenderman, Horse Jumper of Love and Greg Freeman. You can watch a lyric video for latest single ‘All Bets Off’ here, and pre-order Bute on 12" vinyl and CD here.

Newly announced this week is the long-awaited and much-anticipated (by us, anyway) second album by Owen & The Eyeballs, a band of internationally-acclaimed illustrators with a flair for the theatrical. Originally formed in London but now spread to the wind, the four-piece ensemble’s blend of catchy wonky garage-pop songs and psychedelic oddness – characterised by wild’n’colourful live shows involving oversized costumes made by designer friends and collaborators – is instantly addictive. Following a series of well-received singles released on Lost Map over the last several months, we're pleased to make available for pre-order now on super-limited-edition vinyl the imaginatively titled Owen & The Eyeballs Too, ahead of its release on May 8, 2026. Recorded at the legendary Total Refreshment Centre in London in with production and engineering from Kristian Craig Robinson AKA Capitol K (The Comet Is Coming, Alabaster DePlume, Thurston Moore), it delivers eight more gloriously off-the-wall gems about important things like true love, sleeping, animals and having a moon for a head. We can neither confirm nor deny rumours of a lawsuit for pun-infringement by makers of the romantic comedy sequel Look Who’s Talking Too [1990], starring Bruce Willis as a talking baby.

MANUELA HAS REGRETS
STREAM AND SHARE THE NEW SINGLE
PRE-ORDER NEW ALBUM ULTRAVIOLET ON VINYL + CD
A sweeping, dreamlike flurry of sparkling synths and swirling orchestration with a Twin Peaks-y atmosphere, ‘Regrets’ is the latest single by Manuela, the London/Munich based project of vocalist and songwriter Manuela Gernedel (pictured above, lying on a horse's butt for reasons unclear). It was co-written with Nick McCarthy, and produced with Nick McCarthy and Polina Lapkovskaya. Released as part of Lost Map’s PostMap Club subscription service in April (along with a darkly dreamy remix by Naum Gabo, the alter-ego of Jonny Wilkes from Optimo), and available to stream and share now, it’s taken from Manuela’s forthcoming incredible second album Ultraviolet – nine wry art pop tunes full of playful humour, sparkling production and lush arrangements to get swept away in completely. ‘Regrets’ follows the release of singles ‘Hyena’ and, before that, Manuela’s first new music since 2017 ‘Coniine’ (featuring guest vocals from Laetitia Sadier, singer with legendary Anglo-French avant-pop band Stereolab, whom Manuela supported at dates around Europe in Spring 2025).

About ‘Regrets’, Manuela writes:

“The regrets are taking the shape of gargoyles and fraggles, dripping from the walls and tracking you down. Mistakes and bad decisions; hard to get rid of oddballs. We turned this song from a traditional wave approach into a more open form, with a verse without time. A spherical mood – floaty and tense all the same. Recorded traditionally with a three-piece band, then split open with open chords on string and synths. Whilst we were at the studio working on this one, there was a sudden, very heavy snowfall, which completely disrupted the city of Munich for 24 hours. All transport stopped, snowball fights in the middle of the streets and us stuck in the studio with great people. It was pretty magical. Our Twin Peaks moment.”

APRIL POSTMAP CLUB
FEAT. FAITH ELIOTT, BOTH HANDS, PICTISH TRAIL
JOIN OUR CLUB
STREAM AND SHARE FAITH ELIOTT'S NEW SINGLE
A soft anti-folk howl into the capitalist void titled after a real news headline, ‘there’s a cargo ship full of luxury cars on fire in the atlantic ocean’ is a brand-new standalone single by Minneapolis-born, Scotland-based singer-songwriter Faith Eliott. Released as part of this month's PostMap Club subscription service and available to stream and share now, it’s Faith’s first new music since their spellbinding, critically-acclaimed, Scottish Album of the Year Award-nominated full-length debut Dryas was released last year. The album was awarded a full five-stars by The Scotsman and hailed by The List magazine – who included Faith in their Hot 100 list of the biggest names in Scottish arts and culture over the past year – as “one of, if not the finest album to come out of Scotland in 2025”. “It has always been a fun one to play live, getting audiences to sing with me at the end," says Faith bout ‘there’s a cargo ship...’. "I imagine a sort of Wickerman closing scene with everyone holding hands and singing ‘lalala’ around a big horrible bonfire of Lamborghinis.”

Also included in April's PMC – the Lost Map debut single 'Sea Spray' by Edinburgh duo Both Hands; a dose of pulsating synth-pop pairing Hailey Beavis’s emotionally direct vocal with Brian Pokora’s stark, glacial production – quietly devastating and impossible to shake. A song, say Both Hands, "about trying to outrun the dawn, like it’s something you can hold back with sheer will." It will be on streaming next week sometime. 'Sea Spray' is taken from the band's forthcoming debut album Be Like A Mountain In A Moonlit Way, which we will be releasing in September, and which remains unannounced at time of writing, except to you dear WayPoints reader, because you are privileged like that.

Also included in April's PostMap Club:

Manuela – 'Regrets' b/w Naum Gabo remix
A lush, cinematic slow-burn that turns regret into something eerie and beautiful – part Twin Peaks, and completely timeless. Comes with industrial slow-core rework from Jonny Wilkes' of Optimo.

Pictish Trail – Live Slime Session
A few weeks ago, Pictish took his band into Forest of Black’s Glasgow studio and captured a very LOUD live session – three songs from new album Life Slime, played at full tilt. PostMap Club members can watch the entire session right now → lostmap.com/portal
