YET MORE NEW PICTISH TRAIL MUSIC WHERE IS IT ALL COMING FROM???!!!

Oozing hot, filthy, molten goo like a Burger King "Triple Cheese"™ with extra cheese, Pictish Trail's new album Life Slime overfloweth with incredible songs. The latest specimen, available for your streaming pleasure now, being long-form kraut-y banger 'Another Way'. An eight-minute journey of transformation and release building to a motorik krautrock inspired crescendo. A song so satisfyingly long that we could definitely see off a BK "Triple Cheese"™ during its duration and perhaps even a side-serving of Cheesy Fries™, too.
Produced by Mike Lindsay (Tunng, LUMP), Life Slime is the forthcoming sixth full-length Pictish album, the follow-up to 2022’s acclaimed Island Family. Confusingly, despite not being "officially" released until next year, it's available to buy right now, as a fan first / tour exclusive pre-release Primordial Blue-In-Pink Goo Edition on vinyl and CD, via both Fire Records and yer old pals Lost Map Records. Pick up a copy in person from Pictish himself, AKA quite simply "Johnny", as he tours around the UK throughout the remainder of 2025, including a headline date at The Social in London next week on Wednesday, November 26. The first Pictish show of 2026 at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow on January 17 has also just been announced, tix for that here.
“This song sits right at the centre of the album for a reason," says Johnny about 'Another Way', "it’s the emotional hinge-point of Life Slime. It’s a song about trying to stay grounded when someone is determined to misunderstand you. When people disagree, it can so quickly turn into accusation, as if you’re deliberately causing harm. The song starts softly, building slowly, almost cautiously, and grows in confidence as it goes on – like finding the courage to speak up, or to stand by your own sense of self. By the end, it becomes something much freer and more expansive.”

HEAR ANOTHER NEW TRACK FROM ISHAAQ AARKISTRA
|
|
Perfect listening for the coming of winter, ‘Dåligt Väder’ (Swedish for "rubbish weather") is the gorgeous new single by Ishaaq Aarkistra – a Stockholm based ensemble fusing musical styles from east and west, led by Swedish Indian musician Ishaaq. A soulful, swaying, psychedelic instrumental channelling Byard Lancaster and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, it's available to stream and share now. There's a v cool video too, filmed by Richard Brattlund at ABBA’s RMV Studio in Stockholm during the making of Ishaaq Aarkistra’s incredible forthcoming debut album Arikomban Space, and edited by our own Bart Owl.
Arikomban Space was produced by Jari Haapalainen (The Concretes, Camera Obscura), and is set for release on ultra limited-edition eco-friendly bio-vinyl, made from reused cooking oil, in handmade screen-printed recycled sleeves on January 16, 2026. Only 100 (!) copies of these very special records will be produced, and they're selling quick, so make sure to reserve yours now by pre-ordering. Ishaaq Aarkistra were subject of a really lovely feature on Andrew Jervis’s show for Worldwide FM recently, which you can listen to here.
About new single ‘Dåligt Väder’, Ishaaq says: “Dåligt väder, tunna kläder” translates as 'bad weather, thin clothes'. Those words came to me after I heard The Upsetters’ ‘Cold Weather’, where Scratch Perry says: 'This is the cold weather, so get your cloak and umbrella'. Everyone plays so well, really light drums. I had a tear in my eye when we recorded it. Jari the producer said to me: you should be happy if you make just one song like this per album.”

NOVEMBER POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. BLIND YEO, SEAMUS FOGARTY + FLO LINES

Another STACKED PostMap Club offering for this month features yet more new music from eclectic Cornish cosmic folk collective Blind Yeo. Propulsive, Neu!-esque motorik banger ‘Today / Tomorrow’ is the latest taste of a new tour-exclusive cassette EP of collected Blind Yeo recordings further including recent singles ‘Half Light’ and ‘Love Not Fire’. The band continue to take their mesmerising live show on the road, with among other dates an appearance at the highly prestigious festival and industry showcase event Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, in December. "Génial!" we say, with assistance from Google Translate. Also: "au fait, c'est dans quelle direction qu'est-ce qu'on va chez Burger King?"
Or as they might put it in Ireland: "Dála an scéil, cén treo a dteastaíonn uait le haghaidh Burger King?" Ireland being our next destination on this music / burger based tour of the EU, with Seamus Fogarty's first brand new music in a long while, 'I Passed By Your House' – a pulsing, lushy-layered ode to a lost friend and the October bleakness of the County Mayo countryside. London-based Irish folk and electronica masher Seamus's tunes have been acclaimed by among others Oscar winning actor Cillian Murphy. Embellished by strings arranged and performed by longtime collaborator Emma Smith (Pulp, Beth Gibbons, Bas Jan) and additional production and engineering by Mike Lindsay (Tunng, Lump), ‘I Passed Your House’ is a first fascinating glimpse of a brilliant brand new album by Seamus set for release next year.
